India’s wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty joyfully announced their first pregnancy on November 8, sharing a heartfelt message on social media. The couple, who tied the knot in January 2023, expressed their excitement as they prepare to welcome their first child in 2025. Their post, reading “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025,” quickly went viral, delighting fans and friends alike.
Athiya’s brother Ahaan Shetty was one of the first to congratulate the couple, responding with tearful emojis, while actress Sonakshi Sinha, recently married, also shared her happiness. Actor Arjun Kapoor playfully commented, “Dumpling coming thru,” and Ritika Sajdeh, wife of India’s captain Rohit Sharma, extended her best wishes with “Happiest.”
Earlier in 2023, Rahul and Athiya had a dreamy wedding, keeping their romance largely private while focusing on their careers. Interestingly, Rahul joins the ranks of Indian cricketers who have become fathers this year, following Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan.
On the Cricket Front: Rahul’s Australia Tour
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is currently in Australia as part of India A, preparing for the upcoming five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His performance so far has been modest, with just 14 runs scored against Australia A in an unofficial Test match. As the series approaches, there’s speculation he may open in place of Rohit Sharma in the first Test.
In his recent appearances, Rahul has faced challenges, including India’s loss to New Zealand in Bengaluru, where he managed scores of 0 and 12. Fans and selectors are hopeful he will find form ahead of the Australia series.
