Vistara, the airline born from the joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), completed its final flight on November 11, 2024, marking the end of its successful nine-year journey. The airline, known for its premium service, is now merging with Air India, which has plans to become the leading full-service airline in India.
Vistara’s last domestic flight was from Mumbai to Delhi (UK986), which departed at 10:50 PM. Later that night, the airline’s final international flight, UK115, flew from New Delhi to Singapore at 11:45 PM. This signifies the conclusion of an era for the airline before its integration into Air India’s network.

As Air India officially merges with Vistara on November 12, 2024, several measures have been introduced to ensure a smooth transition for passengers. Vistara completed its final domestic and international flights on November 11, ahead of the merger. Around 115,000 passengers with existing Vistara bookings will now be flying with Air India. Despite the merger, travelers can expect the same high-quality service they received with Vistara, as Air India strives to maintain the premium experience that Vistara passengers have come to expect. The integration will help enhance Air India’s global and domestic network while preserving the legacy of Vistara’s service excellence.
Air India’s Fleet Grows Significantly After Merger with Vistara
Post-merger, Air India’s fleet is set for a significant expansion. The merger with Vistara will see Air India’s fleet grow to 208 aircraft, covering a network of 103 domestic and 71 international routes. This includes 49 domestic and 42 international destinations. With the addition of more aircraft, including wide-body jets, Air India is poised to enhance its service offerings and become more competitive in both domestic and international markets.
This expansion reflects Air India’s ambition to solidify its position as India’s leading full-service airline and compete with global giants. The integration with Vistara will also allow for better operational efficiency, as both airlines combine their resources and personnel. As a result, passengers will experience a seamless transition with no immediate changes to their in-flight service, while the iconic “Maharaja” legacy will continue through the evolution of the frequent flyer program.
