Maruti was born in Bandra, Mumbai, to actor-director father Marutirao Parab. Her real name is Tahira Parab, and she was nicknamed Guddi. Manmohan Desai gave her the screen name Maruti, which she is known by today. Maruti started her career at the age of 10 years as a child artist in the film Jaan Haazir Hain.
In a recent interview, she revealed how she could not continue working in the industry and took a break due to the multiple miscarriages she faced because of her workload, which eventually led her to leave the profession. She shared her experiences with other actors like Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Divya Bharti, Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor, and others.
She described “Govinda as the most chivalrous person and shy, someone who never used to talk to women. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar had many sweet girlfriends. Rishi Kapoor, she said, was like a buddy to her with no anger issues, just jolly like her”. When asked about Sridevi, she said, “She was very quiet and kept to herself, always sitting alone on a chair.”.
She mentioned having a good bond with Divya Bharti. “One day, Divya Bharti was sitting on the 5th floor, hanging her feet down and calling her. She was shocked by Divya’s behavior, as she was not at all afraid of heights. Divya was lively and always talking to everyone on set. She was doing a lot of work and remained busy and infact she was not willing to do her last project and Sajid insisted her to do. She also recalled that on the day Divya Bharti passed away, Neeta Lulla was at her apartment, and Divya was sitting on the edge of the window, looking out for Sajid Nadiadwala, her then fiancé. She fell down from her apartment’s window, something she had done many times before in fun”.
